15 - Days: Omo Valley, Arba Minch, Turmi, Karo, Mursi, and Yabelo

Day 1: Arrive in Addis Ababa and enjoy a city tour in the afternoon, where you visit differen sites including the National Museum (apart from on Mondays), Entoto Mountains for wonderful views, and St. Mary’s church and tour of the capital. O/n at a chosen hotel.
Day 2: In the morning, drive to Aregash lodge while en route visit the crater lakes of Debre zeith and the three Rift Valley lakes of Shala, Abyata and Langano. These lakes are rich in bird species, such as pelicans, flamingoes, storks and more. Visit the Sidamo people later to learn about their houses and culture. O/n stay in Aregash Lodge.
Day 3: Drive to Arba Minch, which means 40 springs in Amharic. Here you will enjoy some beautiful views and visit the Wolaiyta people; their villages, culture, the cultivation of the false banana tree (from which roots they extract their traditional bread, the Kocho), and more. In the afternoon, drive to Chencha to visit the Dorze people; their particular weaving works for which they are famous, strange houses, cultivation of sorghum and the false banana and more. Dinner and over night at a hotel with spectacular views over the Chamo and Abaya lakes, and the Nech Sar National Park. There is also a natural path to walk down to the springs, admiring many birds, views and more. O/n stay in Paradis lodge.
Day 4: In the morning, visit Netch Sar National Park with a variety of wildlife, such as the endemic Swaynes hartebeest, zebras, lesser kudu, and others. Return to Arba Minch for lunch. In the afternoon, make a boat trip on Chamo where you will see crocodiles and hippos (the crocodiles here are some of the longest in Africa). Dinner and O/N at hotel.
Day 5: Drive to Turmi, visiting the Konso and Derashe people and their villages on the way. These tribes have interesting cultures and traditions. They are famous for their agricultural terracing. Continue on your journey, visiting the Tsemay and Erbore people and their villages. These have very colorful hairstyles, clothing and other cultures which are sometimes peculiar. Later arrive in the village of Turmi, home of the Hammer people. Dinner and O/N at Turmi in a camp or, at an extra cost, at the tented bungalows of the Buska lodge and campsite. According to the market days, this program can be varied by driving first to Jinka.
Day 6: Visit the Hamer people and their villages, where you will see some dances and more aspects of their culture. Notable is the unique marriage ceremonies, with women slashing, bull jumping and more. If the day on which you arrive is Monday or Saturday, you will visit the colorful markets of the Hamer, Karo and Dassanech tribes respectively at Turmi or Dimeka villages. These tribes are famous for their hairstyles, ornaments, scarifications, and other cultures. O/N in Turmi.
Day 7: Drive to Omorate, at the bank of the Omo River, to visit the Dassanech villages. Depending on the number of tourists, an excursion to the Turkana Lake at the border of Kenya can be added. Return to Turmi for dinner and O/N.
Day 8: Drive to the villages of the Karo people. Visit Kortcho village, from where you can experience very nice views over the Omo River. Dinner and O/N at Murulle camp site, at the bank of Omo River, or near a village.
Day 9: Continue to Mago National Park and camp at the bank of River Neri. From there, explore the wildlife in the park, which includes antelopes and other animals, as well as birds. O/N in the camp.
Day 10: Proceed to the Mursi villages where, for beauty, women put clay plates into their lips and men have different scarifications, and more special cultures. You can learn their ways of life. From there, continue to Jinka village for dinner and O/N at a local hotel.
Day 11: Continue to Konso, visiting the Ari, Benna and Tsemay people on the way. If it is on market days, visit their very colorful markets on the way. Later on, arrive in the famous villages of the Konso; to enjoy a fascinating array of cultures and traditions. O/N at Konso Edget or St. Mary Hotel (local 2* hotels).
Day 12: Continue to the land of the Borena people and in the afternoon, drive to Elsod crater, from where Borena men extract salt. Visit some of their villages. O/N at Yabelo local hotel or camp.
Day 13: Drive to the Rift Valley lake of Awasa, going through the land of the Guji people and very nice landscapes on the way. O/N at Pina hotel (3*).
Day 14: In the morning, visit the fish market and then drive to Addis. Lunch at Addis Ababa. The afternoon is free. We suggest tours of the Mercato (other than on Sundays), the biggest open-air market in Africa, and different souvenir shops. For dinner, we suggest you visit one of the traditional restaurants with folk dances of the different Ethiopian regions. O/N at a chosen hotel.
Day 15: Transfer to the airport for departure.




12- Days Melka Kunatre, Arba Minch, and Omo Valley tribes

Day 1: Arrival at Addis Ababa
An agent of Insight Ethiopian will receive you at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport and transfer to hotel.O/n stay in chosen hotel.
Day 2: Drive to Hosina En route visit Addis-Melka Kunture Archeological sites, The Melkam-Kunture Prehistoric Site lies near the Awash River Gorge is one of the most important Neolithic sites in Ethiopia, where hand axes and various other implements have been found. Tiya is a UNESCO heritage, where of a peculiar type of engraved, grave marking standing stelae, believed to have been erected between the 12th and 14th centuries stand. Remains of young people aged between 18 - 30 have been discovered here which had been buried in fetal positions. O/n stay in My house pension.
Day 3: Drive to Arba Minch Visit Chencha (Dorze village) and Arbaminch. O/n stay in Paradise lodge.
Day 4: Excursion to Nech Sar NP and make a boat trip on Lake Chamo.
You will visit the Nechisar National Park and enjoy a boat Excursion on Lake Chamo, where a large number of crocodile inhabits the lake. O/n stay in Paradise Lodge.
Day 5: Drive to Jinka En route visit the Konso village, which are well-known society for the terracing agricultural practicel. On arrival depending on the time visit also the Ethnological museum of Jinka.

Day 6: Excursion to Mursi village via Mago NP Visit the Mursi tribal village as well as Mago National Park. The Mursi are nomadic cattle herders found close to the Sudanese border. These people speak Mursi and the women are famous for wearing plates in their lower lips. O/n stay in Jinka resort
Day 7: Drive to Turim via Dimeka Turmi, is a small town which is home to many of the the Hamar people.The Hamar are largely pastoralists. The Hamar are known for cow jumping: Visit hammer village.
O/n stay in Buska Lodge.
Day 8: Excursion drive to Murulle with a visit the Karo tribe. Karo is an Omotic language and the tribe is closely related to its neighbors, Hamer and Banna,O/n stay in Buska Lodge.
Day 9: Excursion to Omorate Visit the Dassench village. O/n stay in Buska Lodge
Day 10: Drive to Arba Minch Visit an Arbore tribal village, spending the night at Arbaminch. O/n stay in Paradise lodge.
Day 11: Drive to Awassa Visit the Wolyita villages O/n stay in Lewi hotel.
Day 12: Drive to Addis Ababa Visit the Fish Market in Awassa. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Addis and later, a farewell dinner party. You will then be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.



11-Days Rift Valley and Turmi

Day 1: Arrive in Addis Ababa and go for a city tour. Visit the Entoto Mountains, from where you can have very nice views over the capital, the church of St. Mary, and the adjacent museum of imperial objects. Then head back to the city to visit the National Museum. O/N at hotel.
Day 2: Drive to Arba Minch, with some stops to visit the Wolaiyta people on the way. Among their very interesting cultures are their houses, way of life and cultivation of the false banana (from which they extract their local bread, called Kotcho). O/N at hotel.
Day 3: In the morning, drive to the mountains of Chencha to visit the Dorze people: study their houses, weaving works (for which they are very famous) and cultivation (Sorghum or false banana). In the afternoon, enjoy a boat trip on Lake Chamo, where you will see hippos and crocodiles whose lengths reach a maximum of 06 meters. O/N at hotel.
Day 4: Drive to Jinka, visiting the interesting Konso, Derase, Ari, Benna and Tsemay people, who are very famous for their hairstyles, ornaments all over their body and other unique cultures, on the way. Konso people are famous for their terracing agricultural practices among other traditions. O/N in camp or a local hotel in Jinka town.
Day 5: Explore the Mursi people and their villages. Here, for beauty, women insert round clay plates into their lips. Men have different scarifications based on the number of enemies or wild animals they have killed in battle. There are many other cultures. O/N in Mago National Park (camping).
Day 6: Go through the region of the Karo people and visit their village of Kortcho, with beautiful views over the Omo River. Karo people are famous for their extravagant hairstyles among men and for the different ornaments and paintings all over their bodies. Continue to the land of the beautiful Hammer people. O/N at Turmi at the Evangadi Campsite & Lodge (camp or fixed tents).
Day 7: Full day in Turmi, the region of the very popular Hammer people, with unique hairstyles, different cultural traits, ornamental traditions and more. Visit some very interesting villages and enjoy folk dances. You might get a chance to see a Hammer marriage ceremony colored with unique celebrations such as bull jumping by men. If you like, you can do a morning excursion to Omorate, around the bank of the Omo River, to visit the Dassanech tribes & villages. O/N at Turmi (camp or fixed tents).
Day 8: Drive towards Konso & visit the Konso villages and very interesting cultures. O/N at hotel
Day 9: In the morning, visit Netch Sar National Park. In the afternoon, drive to Lake Langano. O/N at hotel
Day 10: Visit the Rift Valley lakes of Shalla & Abyata before heading back to Addis Ababa. O/N at hotel in Addis Ababa.
Day 11: Departure.


16 - Days: Omo Valley, Mago National Park, Turmi and Yabello

Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa. O/N at hotel.
Day 2: Drive to Awassa en route visit the crater Lakes of Debre Ziet. O/N at hotel.
Day 3: Visit the Wolayita people and Chencha (the Dorze tribes). O/N at Arba Minch hotel.
Day 4: In the morning, visit Nech Sar National Park and in the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Chamo. O/N at Arbaminch hotel.
Day 5: Drive to Jinka. On the way, visit the Tsemay, Ari and Benna people, and if possible, possible their markets. O/N at Jinka in hotel or camp.
Day 6: Drive to the villages of the Mursi people. O/N in Mago National Park (camping at the bank of River Neri).
Day 7: Drive to Murulle to visit the Karo tribes and their villages. O/N camp at Murulle or Duss.
Day 8: Cross the Omo River to visit the Bume. O/N at Turmi camp or lodge.
Day 9: Drive to Omorate and visit the Dassanech (Gelab) tribe and Turkana (if possible). O/N in Turmi among the Hammer people.
Day 10: Visit the Hammer market, watch their music and dance. O/N in Turmi.
Day 11: Drive to Erbore to visit Erbore people. Continue to Konso. O/N in a camp or 2* hotel.
Day 12: Visit Konso village and drive to Yabelo in the afternoon to visit the Borana people. O/N in a camp or 2* hotel.
Day 13: Drive to El Sod to visit the Borana (Oromo) people, famous for salt extracting, and the Dublock singing wells. O/N in Yabello.
Day 14: Drive to Awassa. O/N at hotel.
Day 15: Visit the Awassa fish market and drive to Addis Ababa.
Day 16: Departure.
